What this site does

Solar Export Rates Scotland provides personalised solar export income estimates and independent energy efficiency advice for Scottish homeowners. We are operated by Scottish Energy Efficiency. We do not carry out installations — that is done by our MCS-certified partner, Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd (SC484353).

How we source our data

Our calculators and data tables draw from:

• PVGIS (Photovoltaic Geographical Information System, European Commission) for postcode-level solar irradiance data across Scotland
• MCS MIS 3002 for yield estimation methodology and the standard used by certified installers
• Published SEG tariff rates from individual energy suppliers, checked and dated on every page where they appear
• Home Energy Scotland for grant and loan figures, eligibility criteria, and scheme status
• Ofgem for Smart Export Guarantee scheme rules

How we check our facts

Every factual claim on this site carries a named source and a date. Figures are verified against the original source before publication. SEG tariff rates are checked against each supplier's published rate card. Grant and loan amounts are verified against the current Home Energy Scotland terms and conditions.

We do not use unverifiable claims. Where a figure cannot be confirmed from a named source, we remove it rather than guess.

How often we review

SEG tariff rates and grant figures are reviewed at least quarterly, or whenever a supplier or government body announces a change. The “Rates checked” date shown on data pages and calculators shows when the last review took place.

What we do not do

• We do not guarantee any financial outcome — all figures are illustrative estimates
• We do not provide financial advice — see our finance notice on relevant pages
• We do not make unsubstantiated performance claims (no “up to X%” without a cited source)
• We do not publish installation counts or review scores we cannot verify

Corrections

If you spot an error on this site, please email info@scottishenergyefficiency.co.uk. We correct factual errors promptly and update the “Last updated” date when we do.
